It’s been said that “A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned.” To help save you money on software, here are links to some things that will help you save money on your computer:
Firefox is my favorite web browser. The best thing about it is that it runs on all of the computing platforms I use – Linux, Mac, and Windows (to download the Mac or Linux version, you’ll have to click on “Other Systems and Languages” link on their download page). It’s free (as in “free beer” AND freedom), and it doesn’t suffer from many of the annoyances I find in Internet Explorer.
Thunderbird is an email client from the same group that produces Firefox. Like Firefox, Thunderbird runs on Linux, Mac OS, and Windows.
Open Office is a replacement for Microsoft Office. It includes replacements for Word, Excell, Access, and Power Point, as well as a drawing program. Using this program will save you at least $175 over buying Office. Like Firefox and Thunderbird, it runs on Linux, Mac OS, and Windows
